We have a fabulous selection of workshops on many Social Justice topics such as First Nations education and rights, Reconciliation, the global climate crisis, labour organizing, poetry, art, dance, music, math, science, intersectional ways of teaching and learning, LGBTQ/ SOGI, land struggles, anti-colonialism, race/ anti-racism, historic and current struggles informing our work, democratic schools, mental health for activists, critical literacy, plus others! A PDF list of workshops is copied below and click button to download.
While our work on the above social justice issues has never been more urgent, as teachers we are also cognizant of the costs to our students’ mental health if their awareness of these issues doesn’t include an education about the kind of revolutionary love that Valerie Kaur describes: love for opponents, love for others, love for ourselves. There can be no love without joy. And so we need to teach for joy and for justice. Because, as Cornel West reminds us, justice is what love looks like in public. Registration for workshops will be on site - we will post sign-up lists under each for sign up, so come early!
